Who we are

Lomond and Clyde Tourist Association seeks to represent the interests of visitors and tourism operators along the A82, A814 corridor from Clydebank to Ardlui. Originally set up in 1980, when it was known as West Dumbarton District Tourist Association, LCTA subsequently adopted the Lomond and Clyde name to reflect the change of local authority boundaries which saw the communities of Cardross, Helensburgh, the Rosneath peninsula and Arrochar and Tarbet moved from West Dunbartonshire into Argyll and Bute.

Members are pictured at Lomond Shores earlier this year at the launch of LCTA's local area tourism map.

Membership and meetings

LCTA generally meets monthly and until this year membership was free and automatic to all our local tourism businesses, 167 of which currently receive emailed minutes and notifications of monthly meetings and AGMs. However at the January 2010 AGM it was agreed to charge a membership fee, the amount to be announced following February's regular meeting. It was also agreed to remove the VisitScotland Quality Assurance condition and open up membership to any business or anyone with an interest in tourism.. Since the demise of the old Area Tourist Board, it has become increasingly difficult to keep our list of local businesses up to date, so if you are not on our register and would like to receive notification of meetings, do please let us know. Funding and what we do

LCTA obtains all of its funds from the proceeds of its popular Hogmany Ceilidh, held each year amidst the civic grandeur of Helensburgh's Victoria Hall. The Ceilidh is in its 17th season and regularly attracts visitors from far afield. As well as supporting the work of LCTA, the Ceilidh also raises significant sums for worthy charities. For more information about the Ceilidh click here. For more information about the Victoria Halls click here.

A small committee of enthusiasts helps to carry forward the work of the association and for more information on these activities click here. If you have your own ideas about what you would like LCTA to do, why not come along to one of our regular monthly meetings. Alternatively, to send us an email, just click here.

Partnership

LCTA fosters good working relationships with local partner organisations, especially StayatLochLomond.com, our excellent local accommodation Website. We also seek to work closely with regional and national bodies such as Scottish Enterprise,VisitScotland, The Forestry Commission, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and Argyll and Bute and West Dunbartonshire Councils. LCTA supports the work of the Guest House and B&B Association and is a member of The Scottish Tourism Forum.

Loch Lomond and Clyde Calendar 2011 will soon be available throughout the local area.

Superb views of this area, including a unique aerial shot of Loch Lomond during the big freeze.
